Not everyone of course, believes in God. There are people who believe that God does not exist and they are called atheists (meaning 'no god'). Some people find their belief in God fluctuates at different times between faith and doubt. They may believe in God, for example, but then some experience of suffering shakes their faith. They may, of course, later regain that faith. Many people simply do not think that it is possible to know for certain in this life whether God exist or not. These people are called agnostics ( meaning 'not knowing' ). We can sum up the beliefs of atheistis and agnostics in this way:
