Summary: "Wood is an extremely versatile building material - both in application and in appearance. Although it always shows its natural origin (p. 24), it can also appear completely artificial when softly deformed (p. 14) or used in the most stringent of geometries (p. 210). Hard bends and edges (p. 18) are feasible and surfaces that - across boards - appear precisely like steel (p. 178). But wood can also be used to create natural formations that make no secret of their artificiality (p. 186). The light-weight but robust building material makes it possible to create unusual shapes (p. 71) and can be adapted quickly, easily and inexpensively to a wide variety of applications." -- Preface
